Common questions
- Do I need to install an app?
- No. Flashbeat runs in your phone’s web browser. Open the link and you are in — there is nothing to download from an app store.
- Do I need an account?
- No. You can create, share and play a flash without ever giving an email address. An account is optional and only adds saved flashes, a display name, and following.
- How do other people join my flash?
- Every flash gets a short link and a QR code. Paste the link into a group chat, or let people scan the code. Anyone who opens it joins the same flash.
- How do all the phones stay in time with each other?
- Playback runs off a server-side master clock rather than each phone’s own timer, so every screen changes on the same beat and the crowd reads as one sign instead of a hundred phones blinking out of step.
- Can people nearby find my flash?
- A flash can appear to people physically near you, closest first, so a crowd can join without passing a link around. The creator can turn that off, and location permission is optional for everyone.
- Is Flashbeat free?
- Yes. Creating a flash, sharing it, and joining one are all free.
